Uzlo Sculpture - Lavender Dew
Created in collaboration with Chinese artist Jinya Zhao, the Uzlo totem-style sculpture is constructed of layers that create an interplay between the radiance of glass and the opacity of leather. Blown into custom molds, the glass pieces are mixed with pigment and then meticulously hand-polished with diamond tools to achieve a frosted appearance. Polène’s leather-working artisans cover the wooden pieces with leather before stitching the seams and painting the edges. The name “Uzlo”, a twist on the word “puzzle”, echoes the totem-like esthetic of the piece designed as an assembly of interlocking geometric shapes. Limited series: 150 pieces. Each piece is supplied with a numbered reproduction of one of the artist’s watercolors.
